Recycling

How can you help me with Recycling?

When we buy your new Appliance you can request us to take away the packaging and even uplift your old Appliance as long as it’s a like for like product. For example if we deliver a new Washing Machine we can uplift your old Washing Machine and take it away for Recycling through the proper channels.

Sounds good but how much will it cost me?

Nothing - it’s a totally free service

.

Will you uplift my old Appliance if I live outside Northern Ireland?

We have a free delivery zone within Northern Ireland and Counties Louth, Monaghan and Dublin. As we use our own transport to deliver for free to these areas we can also uplift your old Appliance at the same time. Unfortunately we can’t offer this service outside of these areas as we use other reputable carrier companies such as Yodel.

What do I have to do to prepare for an uplift?

Unless you have requested us to disconnect your old Appliance and are organising this yourself we would ask you to make sure that your Washing Machine is emptied of all fluids and your Fridge Freezer is defrosted. The Appliance then needs to be left outside your premises for us to get east access.

I’ve heard about WEEE. What is it?

As a responsible Appliance Retailer Dalzells strictly adheres to a European Directive called WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) which came into legal effect in 2007 and has been adapted specifically to meet UK needs. These regulations have been introduced to help reduce the amount of electrical equipment going to landfill and to promote the reuse or recycling of these items as best possible.

I would like to Recycle more and be more Energy conscious. What can I do to help?

Here’s how:

  • The easiest thing to do to help save energy is to switch off lights and Appliances which aren’t currently in use. Instead of leaving your TV on standby switch it off instead. Encourage your kids to do the same.
  • Contact your Electricity supplier and ask if they can send you a Free Energy Usage Meter. This is a simple and discreet plug-in box which tells you instantly how much energy you’re using. It warns you by displaying a green, amber or red light as a quick indicator to help you be more informed and more in control of how much you spend. Help the environment and help your pocket too!
  • Choose to buy more Energy Efficient Appliances. Ask at the time of purchase what considerations the manufacturer has taken to make as much of the appliance as recyclable as possible. Pressure from you, the consumer, will help to ensure the manufacturers will continue to work towards producing even more Energy Efficient Appliances in the future.
  • Don't put Electrical Equipment or any device with the appropriate symbol into your refuse bin. If you live outside our Free Delivery Zone we provide subscriptions to http://www.recycle-more.co.uk/ who manage a range of sites which will accept your old appliances for recycling for free.

Once I have my delivery

What do I do if I have a problem with an appliance that has been delivered and connected?

At Dalzells we pride ourselves on our Customer Care policy and will do everything we can to help you. The first thing to do is to drop us an e-mail to customercare@armaghelectrical.com outlining the problem. Also, as we prefer the belts and braces approach, give us a quick call on +44 (0)28 3755 1260 and explain the situation to one of our Customer Care Specialists who will take care of you. We’ll either resolve the problem for you or if we can’t we’ll arrange for a manufacturer’s engineer to pay a visit.

What if I change my mind and want to return an Appliance I just bought?

We operate a 14 day returns policy in line with the Consumer Contracts Regulation. If you decide to return an unused item, you just need to give us a call on +44 (0)28 3755 1260 and drop us an e-mail to customercare@armaghelectrical.com . Full details can be found on our section entitled 14 Day Returns Policy.

What Warranty do you offer?

Manufacturers will supply a warranty in addition to your rights under the Sales of Goods Act. This will be upwards of 1 year depending on the Appliance and the individual manufacturer. Individual manufacturer’s warranty details can be found on our website under the manufacturer’s name within our Brands section. Some manufacturers will also give extended warranties. Again this will be found within our Brands section.

TV Connection

Will you connect my new Television?

Unfortunately not. We are happy to deliver your new Television and on request, unpack it for you, check it over with you to make sure it’s in perfect condition and take the packaging with us to recycle if you want us to.

Gas & Electric Connection

Will you connect my new Gas Appliance once it’s been delivered?

Unfortunately we can’t. Dalzells will deliver your new Gas Appliance but we can’t connect it as we’re not qualified Gas Engineers. Once you order your Gas Appliance we can then discuss your proposed delivery date and you can go ahead and organise for a Gas Engineer to call. If you want to err on the side of caution however you can wait until your new Appliance has been delivered just in case there’s an outside chance of a delivery delay outside of our control. We don’t anticipate that happening but if it did we would hate for you to be out of pocket. You can arrange for a Gas Engineer through the Gas Safe website which is http://www.gassaferegister.co.uk .

Will you connect my new Electric Appliance once it’s been delivered?

The answer is yes but it depends on how much connection needs done. If you would like us to plumb in your new Washing Machine or other Kitchen Appliance then yes we can do that for a small charge of £30. If you want us to hardwire your new Appliance into the mains then that’s a job for a qualified electrician.

Will you disconnect my old Electrical Appliance?

If you request it at the time of purchase we can disconnect your old Washing Machine, Washer Dryer, Tumble Dryer, Oven, Cooker, Hob (electric only), or Refrigeration Appliance (basically most things with the exception of Audio Visual Equipment). There is a modest charge of £30 for this service and just request it at the time of purchase again either in our retail store, on the phone or at the checkout page online. Please note that we can’t disconnect an Electrical Appliance which has been hardwired into the mains. You would need a qualified Electrician to take care of this for you.

Will you disconnect my old Gas Appliance?

We can’t I’m afraid. If you need a Gas Appliance Disconnection and want us to uplift your old appliance then you can arrange to have a Gas Engineer do this for you then leave it outside for us to collect. You’ll find a reputable Gas Engineer by logging onto the Gas Safe Register website which is http://www.gassaferegister.co.uk.

Connection & Disconnection

Will you Disconnect my old Appliance without me buying a new one from you?

This service is only open to customers of Dalzells who are buying a like for like Appliance within Northern Ireland and Counties Louth, Monaghan and Dublin. If you buy a new Washer Dryer from us for example we’ll be happy, for a small charge, to disconnect your old machine and take it with us for recycling provided it has been properly drained and is not hardwired into the mains.

What Appliances are you prepared to Connect and Disconnect?

We can connect and Disconnect most Electrical Appliances at our discretion such as Cookers, Hobs, Washing Appliances and Refrigeration Appliances as long as they are not hardwired into the mains and have been drained of water or ice. We don’t connect or disconnect Home Entertainment or AV equipment. There is a small charge for this service.

For a small charge we'll happily disconnect plumbed in items with a water supply.

Here's the list of items we'll disconnect for £4.99:

  • Freestanding Washing Machines
  • Freestanding Washer Dryers
  • Freestanding Dishwashers
  • Freestanding Slimline Dishwashers

There are just a few things we need you to do before we arrive:

  • Defrost and remove any food from American fridge freezers
  • Empty plates and cutlery from dishwashers
  • Take clothes out of washing machines, tumble or washer dryers.

Unfortunately we can't disconnect your old item if this isn't done, and we don't want that to happen.

We don't offer the disconnection service on the following:

  • Any integrated items
  • Cookers
  • Range Cookers
  • Ovens
  • Hobs
  • Cooker Hoods
  • Condenser Tumble Dryers
  • Spin Dryers
  • Fridge Freezers
  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • Wine Coolers
  • Microwaves
  • TV's mounted to a wall

If you've paid for us to install your TV to a stand or a gas or electric connection service on a cooker, range cooker, oven or hob, we'll disconnect your old item as part of the service.

Appliance Connection

Yes we do. You can request that our delivery team connect your item for you. This must be done at the point of order and a charge will be made for each item.

When you order a new gas or electrical appliance we appreciate that you’ll want to have it up and running as quickly as possible. If, when we deliver, you would like us to connect your new electrical appliance such as a washing machine, washer dryer, tumble dryer, electric cooker, oven, hob or refrigeration appliance (but not audio visual appliances) for a modest charge of £30 just request this particular service at the point of purchase either in our retail store, over the phone or at the checkout page online. Please note that our Appliance Connection Service only applies to customers within our Free Delivery Zone of N.I. and Counties Louth, Monaghan and Dublin, and it doesn’t cover hardwiring your new appliance into the mains for which you would need a qualified electrician.

Also, although we offer an electrical appliance connection service we don’t offer the same service for gas appliances. You can however, find a registered gas fitter in your area by clicking onto the Gas Safe Register website - www.gassaferegister.co.uk

Will you take away my old items for me?

Yes we will. This is an optional, chargeable service. You can request that our delivery team collect and recycle your old item, there's a £9.99 extra charge for this service. Item collection must be arranged at the point of order.

All items for collection and recycling must be disconnected from all water, electrical and gas supply in advance of the items being removed. Please ensure your old items are emptied and fully defrosted where applicable.

If you pay for our Gas or Electric installation, we'll disconnect your old item and recycle it too. All gas disconnections must be performed by a Gas Safe registered engineer. All mains wired electric cookers should only be disconnected by an electrical engineer.

Unfortunately at the moment this service is only available to certain UK postcodes (currently not available in Northern Ireland).

How will I know my appliances are as they should be?

Your appliances are checked three times for their condition, in our warehouse, on loading onto our vehicles and in your home. If you want we'll even take away all the packaging for recycling. If you have any issues once you have unpacked your order, please contact one of our team on  NI / UK 028 3755 1260 or ROI 048 3755 1260 who will be happy to help.
