Our Commitment
Dalzells of Markethill is committed to supporting Northern Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon future. In line with the Climate Change Act (Northern Ireland) 2022, which sets a legally binding target of achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, we are taking meaningful and measurable steps to reduce our environmental impact across all areas of our business.
Renewable Energy Investment
We have made significant investments in renewable energy generation across our sites:
- Installation of a 40kW solar PV system at our main business premises
- Integration of 20kW battery storage to optimise energy use and reduce grid reliance
- Additional solar installations of 16kW and 14kW at our warehouse locations
These systems reduce our carbon footprint while increasing energy efficiency and resilience.
Energy Efficiency Improvements
We continue to improve the efficiency of our buildings and operations:
- Full transition to energy-efficient LED lighting across the business
- Upgraded insulation in key buildings to reduce heat loss and energy demand
These measures lower energy consumption and contribute to long-term sustainability.
Sustainable Transport
We are actively reducing emissions associated with transport and logistics:
- Installation of a WEEV electric vehicle charging station at our premises
- Ongoing transition of our vehicle fleet to lower-emission and more efficient models
This ensures we are supporting cleaner mobility for both staff and customers.
Responsible Operations and Compliance
Environmental responsibility is embedded in our daily operations:
- Recycling of packaging materials wherever possible
- Full compliance with WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations
We are committed to minimising waste and ensuring responsible disposal and recycling of electrical goods.
