The CLES (Centre for Local Economic Strategies) in partnership with the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) researched the value of every £1 spent locally – the results were compelling and sufficient to convince most people that when they shop locally they are genuinely having a positive impact on their local community! They found that for every £1 spent locally between 50p – 70p of that money was recirculated back into the local economy. Whereas they found that the same £1 spent out of town or online only trickled back a measly 5p to the local community.
