One of the most used appliances in the home, over time, our washing machines<\/a> build up lots of gunk<\/strong> and mould that can make it smell.<\/p>\n

Whether it’s excess detergent, fabric conditioner or mould growth making your machine smell, it’s recommended that you clean your washing machine at least once a month <\/strong>to keep it clean and fresh.<\/p>\n

Before you start, always read the manufacturer’s instructions<\/strong> on how to clean your washing machine as they may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.<\/p>\n

How to Clean A Smelly Washing Machine<\/h2>\n

Many newer washing machines now have a special cleaning cycle<\/strong>, which is ideal for that regular clean.<\/p>\n

However, if your machine doesn’t have a cleaning cycle, the following steps will have your machine smelling clean in no time.<\/p>\n

  1. Run a recommended service wash once a month<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you want to use a special cleaning liquid or natural products, such as bicarbonate of soda or vinegar, make sure and read the manufacturer’s instructions before using as this may invalidate your warranty.<\/li>\n
  2. Remove the detergent drawer<\/strong> and place in the top basket of your dishwasher, or if you don’t have a dishwasher, place in a basin of warm, soapy water and clean thoroughly.<\/li>\n
  3. Clean and dry the rubber seal<\/strong> with warm, soapy water.<\/li>\n
  4. Clean the filter regularly. <\/strong>Drain off any excess water, remove the filter and clean with warm water.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
