It’s a little late but it’s most certainly still worth a mention on our blog, a very\u00a0Happy 60th Birthday<\/strong>\u00a0to all the team at our good neighbours at\u00a0Alexanders of Markethill<\/strong>!<\/p>\n Established by\u00a0Norman Alexander<\/strong>\u00a0and his good wife way back in\u00a01954<\/strong>\u00a0in the towns ‘Market House’, the business is today a household name not just in County Armagh, but throughout Northern Ireland and indeed much of the Republic of Ireland. All of us in Markethill should be rightly proud and celebrating this fantastic family owned business that has done so much to put our small town on the map and contributed to the development of our community.<\/p>\n Norman, a gentleman, deserves much recognition. So too his son and daughters who have very capably grown and extended the concern into the vibrant business it is today. We at Dalzells of Markethill salute you as such and wish you all every success for the many years yet to come!<\/p>\n Indeed, were it not for Alexanders of Markethill, we ourselves might not exist. For it was 1954 that a clearly very wise and perspicacious Norman Alexander took on to his staff a young and ambitious Noel Dalzell from Hillocks’ Merchants in Armagh! Who, two short years later in\u00a01956<\/strong>\u00a0established\u00a0Dalzells of Markethill<\/strong>\u00a0with his good wife\u00a0Evelyn<\/strong>\u00a0with her ready experience gained from Walkers Department Store in Armagh.
